In the case of manually operated machines, the two parts of the capsules are detached and are inserted into the loading tray. The empty capsules are poured with the filling materials and then sealed off.
Semi automatic encapsulators, on the other hand, employs both the manual as well as the automatic method in equal fashion, hence justifying the term semi automatic. Simple operation and the equipment hygiene requirements make it suitable for its use in the pharmaceutical industry. The contact parts of this machine are made up of stainless steel and non corrosive and this ensures the longevity of the device. Its properties like non corrosive material used in this machine negate any chance of contamination and facilitate easy cleaning after use make the machine optimum for filling the powders. A Semi Automatic Capsule Filling Machine can produce an output of around 25000 capsules per hour. A cap and body ring are positioned under the rectifier to receive the empty capsules. After vacuum separation, the powder hopper fills the capsule and then they are rejoined with the help of pins.
An automatic encapsulator is a fully machine driven system designed to increase the production multiple times. This machine is designed to automatically fill an empty capsule with powders and granules and is employed in the large scale production of the capsules. Such machines are extremely durable for capsule filling and prove themselves reliable in the maintenance of the integrity of the filled capsules. Its output is approximately up to 150000 capsules per hour and it can produce varying sizes of capsules ranging from type 00, 1,2, 3, 4, and 5. The machine provides an extra slot for an additional attachment of equipment as an online capsule polishing machine, dust extractor, damage capsule sorter, and an empty capsule ejector.
Therefore these machines as they have been described above are beneficial in increasing the production manifold. Pharmaceutical is one of the major industries that need to generate such capsules on a daily basis. Technological upgradation has thus shifted the manual production to machine production.
