Ampoule Washing Machine

The high speed rotary ampoule washing machine is the new addition to our high tech sterile washing machines category.

When it comes to filling and packaging of the pharmaceutical products, cleanliness and hygiene are utmost important. It becomes even more vital while filling injectables into glass ampoules. It is very important to sterile every ampoule before it is forwarded to the filling area. We are one of the most trusted high tech pharmaceutical machinery manufacturers offering advanced ampoule washing machine with high standards of hygiene.

Internal Cleaning with Ampoule Washing Machine:

The LI-VRW comes with 6 internal cleaning stations, having cleaning needles in each station. That makes total 36 cleaning needles. There is a pipe connected to the cleaning media making washing area, through which each cleaning station is supplied. This minimizes the risk of particle generation as well as simplifies cleaning and maintenance process, which saves your time.

External Cleaning with Ampoule Washer

This machine comes with 3 external cleaning solutions. They are mounted in a stationary position above the ampoule and it is very easy to adjust them to a particular angle, height or lateral position. Every cleaning station is supplied cleaning media-making via a pipe that is connected to the cleaning media-making washing area.

Ampoule Cleaning Media Principal:

The synchronization of WFI, purified water and cleaning solution with ampoule is established by reciprocating motion. It is designed in such a way that these media are only used when the needles move in the forward direction. It reduced WFI consumption by collecting the WFI in re-circulating water tank so that it can be used later in the pre washing station. In addition, we also offer change part sets for the high speed rotary ampoule washing machine.
The ideal output of the machine is maximum up to 18000 ampoules/hr.
Lodha also offers Change Part sets for Rotary Ampoule Washing Machine

A High Speed Rotary Ampoule Washing Machine (Model: LI-ARW) is a fully automatic, continuous-motion washing system designed to wash glass ampoules at very high speeds — up to 18,000 ampoules per hour — before they are filled with injectable, Ayurvedic liquid, or cosmetic serum products. Unlike a semi-automatic multijet washer where ampoules are loaded in trays and washed in batches, the rotary machine runs in a continuous loop, picking each ampoule, inverting it neck-down, washing it through 6 dedicated cleaning stations with 36 needles total, and then releasing it right-side up onto the outfeed — all without stopping. If your production volume is high and downtime is not an option, this is the machine your facility needs.

Glass ampoules come with invisible contaminants — glass particles from manufacturing, atmospheric dust, moisture, and microbial deposits. When you fill any product into an unwashed ampoule — whether it's a sterile injectable, an Ayurvedic ark (herbal distillate), or a premium vitamin C cosmetic serum — these particles end up inside the final product. For injectables, this is a life-threatening risk. For Ayurvedic and cosmetic products, it leads to product rejection, consumer complaints, and failed regulatory inspections. The rotary ampoule washer eliminates all of this by thoroughly cleaning each ampoule both internally and externally before it ever reaches your filling station.

The High Speed Rotary Ampoule Washing Machine (LI-ARW) is purpose-built for glass ampoules ranging from 2 ml to 50 ml using change parts. For glass vial washing, Lodha Pharma offers the Rotary Vial Washing Machine (LI-VRW), which uses a very similar rotary gripper technology but is configured for 2 ml to 100 ml vials. Both machines follow the same washing principle but are separately optimized for their respective container types.

This is the heart of what makes the rotary machine exceptional. As each ampoule enters from the turntable through the infeed star wheel, a specially designed gripper holds the ampoule firmly by its neck and physically inverts it — turning it neck-down over the washing needles. In this inverted position, the washing needles enter the neck of the ampoule and deliver pressurized jets of WFI, purified water, compressed air, or cleaning solution directly into the ampoule's interior. The ampoule travels along with the needle bar, which means maximum contact time between the washing media and the ampoule interior. Once washing is complete, the gripper returns the ampoule to its upright position on the outfeed star wheel. No manual handling, no product contamination, no missed ampoules.

The machine is equipped with 6 internal cleaning stations, each carrying 6 needles — totaling 36 washing needles across the complete cycle. The washing sequence at each station can be customized as per your process requirements, but a typical standard cycle includes:
  • Station 1: Recycled/pre-wash water (internal)
  • Station 2: Purified water or DM water (internal)
  • Station 3: WFI — Water for Injection (internal)
  • Station 4: WFI again for a second internal rinse
  • Station 5: Compressed air (internal blow-off)
  • Station 6: External wash (outer surface cleaning)
The sequence is not fixed — Lodha Pharma can modify the washing order based on your GMP validation protocol, product type, and regulatory requirements.

This is a genuinely thoughtful design feature. The machine uses a reciprocating needle bar system where the washing media (especially WFI) is only dispensed when the needles are moving in the forward/entry direction into the ampoule neck — not during retraction. Additionally, the machine collects and recirculates used WFI from later rinse stations back into the pre-wash station, significantly reducing overall WFI consumption per batch. For large-scale pharma and Ayurvedic injectable manufacturers, this translates into meaningful cost savings every production shift.

Both. The machine includes an external wash station in addition to the five internal washing stations. This ensures that the outer glass surface of every ampoule is also cleaned of dust, particles, or glass residue from manufacturing. This external wash is particularly important for cosmetic ampoule manufacturers — a visually clean, particle-free ampoule creates a premium unboxing experience for end consumers and reflects positively on your brand.

Yes. The machine is designed and built to meet current GMP (cGMP) standards with the following compliance-ready features:
  • All contact parts are made from SS 316L stainless steel
  • The frame and structure are built in SS 304
  • The gripper and needle systems are designed for minimum machine-part contact with ampoules
  • Washing sequences are documented and configurable per your SOP
  • The machine supports IQ/OQ/PQ validation documentation for regulatory submissions
For AYUSH-licensed injectable Ayurvedic units, the machine meets the cleanliness standards required for glass ampoule washing before filling herbal injectables. For Schedule M-compliant pharma plants and WHO-GMP certified facilities, this machine is suitable for sterile and non-sterile injectable lines.

Yes. The Rotary Ampoule Washing Machine supports complete process validation documentation. Since the washing sequence, media flow rates, pressures, and timing are all configurable and repeatable, your quality team can generate the necessary IQ (Installation Qualification), OQ (Operational Qualification), and PQ (Performance Qualification) documentation. Lodha Pharma provides technical support for validation activities. This is especially critical if you are seeking US-FDA, EU-GMP, or TGA approval for your injectable product line.

The rotary ampoule washer is specially designed to minimize physical contact between machine parts and the ampoule body. Only the gripper — which holds the ampoule by the neck — touches the container. The ampoule body and the washed inner surface are never touched by any metal or machine component. This is critical in sterile injectable manufacturing because any contact with machine parts can transfer particles, lubricants, or microbial contamination onto the ampoule. The "minimum contact" design directly reduces the risk of particulate contamination and supports your cleanroom integrity.

Absolutely. Ayurvedic manufacturers licensed under AYUSH for sterile liquid preparations — including Pancha Karma therapeutic liquids, herbal injectables, and classical distillates filled in glass ampoules — must comply with ampoule cleaning and sterilization standards before filling. The High Speed Rotary Ampoule Washer with its 6-station WFI and purified water wash cycle, combined with compressed air blow-off, ensures your ampoules meet the particulate and microbial cleanliness standards required before Ayurvedic injectable filling. Given the biological sensitivity of herbal formulations, a thorough and validated washing process is not optional — it's essential.

Yes — and it's arguably more important for cosmetic ampoule manufacturers than people realize. Glass ampoules used in cosmetic serums are often marketed as premium, single-dose, active-ingredient delivery systems. If a consumer opens an ampoule and finds any cloudiness, particle, or residue — the brand credibility is immediately damaged. The Rotary Ampoule Washer ensures that every single glass ampoule your cosmetic serum is filled into is crystal-clean internally and externally, with no glass dust, no particles, and no residue. At up to 18,000 ampoules per hour, this machine can keep up with even aggressive production schedules for cosmetic ampoule lines.

Yes. The machine handles Type I neutral borosilicate glass ampoules used in sterile pharmaceutical injectables as well as standard soda-lime glass ampoules used in cosmetic and oral liquid preparations. Since the gripper holds the ampoule by the neck with minimal body contact, the washing process is gentle enough to handle delicate thin-walled cosmetic ampoules without breakage, while still being thorough enough for critical injectable ampoule washing. Sizes from 2 ml to 50 ml are supported with appropriate change parts.

Yes, with the appropriate change parts the machine can be adapted for oral liquid ampoules (e.g., iron supplements, herbal tonics, or vitamin liquid ampoules in the 5 ml to 20 ml range) as well as sterile injectable ampoules (e.g., 2 ml, 5 ml, 10 ml). The washing sequence can be adjusted — for instance, oral liquid ampoules may not require WFI in every station, whereas injectable ampoules need WFI in the final rinse stations. The configurable washing sequence makes the machine adaptable for multi-product facilities.

The High Speed Rotary Ampoule Washing Machine (LI-ARW) can wash up to 18,000 ampoules per hour at its peak rated output. This makes it one of the highest-capacity ampoule washing machines available for mid-to-large scale pharma and Ayurvedic injectable manufacturing. For cosmetic ampoule lines with high-volume production — such as seasonal or export-focused ampoule serum batches — this output level ensures the washing station never becomes a production bottleneck.

This is a common and valid concern. The rotary design is specifically engineered so that washing quality does not degrade at high speeds. The ampoule travels in sync with the needle bar, meaning each ampoule gets full dwell time at every washing station — the machine doesn't rush through the wash cycle by reducing needle engagement time. At high speeds, the rotary motion ensures continuous, uninterrupted washing without jamming or missed ampoules. Your QA team can validate washing effectiveness using standard particulate and endotoxin testing on sample ampoules from each batch.

Ampoules are fed through a turntable into an infeed star wheel, which guides each ampoule to the gripper smoothly and consistently. The gripper's neck-hold design means there is no pressure or stress on the ampoule body — significantly reducing the risk of breakage compared to machines that grip or hold the body of the ampoule. After washing, ampoules are gently released through an outfeed star wheel in their upright, vertical position — ready for transfer to the filling station. The entire handling sequence is smooth, consistent, and low-breakage even at high speeds.

When switching between ampoule sizes — for example, from 2 ml to 10 ml — the machine requires a change part set that typically includes the turntable, infeed star wheel, outfeed star wheel, gripper set, and needle plate configuration. Lodha Pharma supplies complete change part sets for each ampoule size the machine will handle. A trained operator can typically complete a size changeover in 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size difference and operator experience. All change parts are made of SS 316L to maintain hygiene and GMP compliance.

The machine is designed for low maintenance with a few key routines: The needle bars and washing needles should be inspected and cleaned regularly to prevent clogging from mineral deposits in purified water or WFI. The gripper mechanism should be checked periodically for wear. The star wheels and turntable should be visually inspected for ampoule guide alignment. The filter cartridges in the water supply lines should be replaced as per your maintenance schedule. Beyond these routine tasks, the machine's all-SS construction, sealed mechanical drive system isolated from the washing zone, and robust rotary mechanism make it a low-maintenance, high-reliability machine for continuous production.
