Capsule Fillers for Small Batches and Production

Lodha International LLP is a capsule filling machine manufacturer established in 1995. The range covers manual bench-top fillers, semi automatic equipment, fully automatic production machines and a compact automatic lab model. Selecting a filler means matching the capsule shell, fill material and batch requirement to the dosing method and operator workload. This guide helps you shortlist the right machine; each model page carries the full technical specification. The broader capsule machines category also includes equipment for polishing, printing and counting; this page focuses on the filling stage.

Types of Capsule Filling Machines

Our seven capsule fillers fall into four groups. Start with how much hands-on work suits your process, then compare output, capsule sizes and fill materials.

Manual Capsule Filling Machines

A manual capsule filling machine gives the operator direct control of loading, separation, powder spreading, tamping and closing. The 100-hole filler includes an orienter, while CFM 300 fills 300 capsules at a time. The standard manual filler reaches 7,500 to 8,000 capsules per hour. Manual operation suits small batches, R&D work and growing herbal or nutraceutical units.

Semi Automatic Capsule Filling Machines

The semi automatic capsule filling machine combines automatic loading and dosing with operator handling of the loading rings. LSCF-35 uses a single ring and LSCF-45 a double ring. A four-speed auger and variable filling-table speed suit different powders and pellets. The operator moves the rings between the separation, filling and closing stages, so output depends on capsule size and operator skill.

Fully Automatic and High Speed Capsule Fillers

The automatic LCF range carries capsules through rectification, separation, dosing and joining on a turntable. Models run from LCF-25 to LCF-90. For higher volumes, the LCF-150 high speed model adds tamping-pin powder dosing, vacuum separation and automatic rejection of non-separated or badly closed capsules.

Automatic Laboratory Capsule Filler

LI-LCF LAB is designed for small laboratory and R&D operations. It combines feeding, separation, dosing, joining and ejection in a compact automatic machine with PLC and touch-screen control. It fills up to 3,000 capsules per hour with powder or 2,000 with pellets, with format parts for sizes 00 to 4, giving development teams automatic filling without a full production machine.

Capsule Filling Machine Models Compared

Shortlist a model by output, capsule sizes and fill material. Actual output depends on capsule size, formulation, capsule quality and operator skill.

Automatic Capsule Filling Machine: When Should You Upgrade?

An automatic capsule filling machine moves each capsule through a series of stations, removing the tray and ring handling of manual and semi automatic machines. The LCF range rectifies, separates, doses, joins and rejects automatically, and its enclosed dosing system with dust suction keeps powder contained around the filling area.

  • Your batches need more output than a manual or semi automatic machine can deliver.
  • Moving loading rings between stations is slowing your production.
  • You want automatic rectification, capsule rejection and enclosed dosing.
  • Your capsule sizes and formulation are settled and ready for scale-up.

Choose the LCF-25 to LCF-90 for 25,000 to 90,000 capsules per hour, or the LCF-150 for up to 150,000. Share your capsule size and formulation, and our engineers will match the dosing system and confirm fill-weight performance for your product.

How a Capsule Filling Machine Works

Every capsule filler follows the same five steps. What changes from manual to automatic is how much of each step the machine does for the operator.

  1. RectificationEmpty capsules enter the hopper and rectifier track. Automatic machines turn every capsule cap-up before it reaches the turntable.
  2. SeparationVacuum separates capsule caps and bodies on automatic models. Manual fillers use a tray and lever arrangement to lift the caps from the bodies.
  3. Filling and DosingAutomatic powder filling uses tamping pins; semi automatic machines use auger dosing. Manual operation spreads powder over the bodies and uses a tamper.
  4. ClosingThe filled bodies and caps are brought together. On the semi automatic machine, operators realign the rings and close the guard before air-pressure closing.
  5. Ejection and CleanupFilled capsules leave the machine or manual tray. Automatic machines also reject non-separated capsules and clean the holes for the next cycle.

Capsule Sizes, Shells and Fill Materials

Each capsule size needs its own format parts, and each fill material needs a matching dosing system. HPMC and vegetarian shells are supported on the CFM 300 and the LI-LCF LAB.

How to Choose the Right Capsule Filler

Output and Batch Size

List the number of capsules required per batch and the available filling time. Use that requirement to compare manual, semi automatic and automatic capacities.

Capsule Formats

List every capsule size and shell type you use. Each size needs format parts, and the 100-hole filler uses a separate variant per size group.

Fill Material

State whether the formulation is powder, granules, pellets or a combination. Include the target fill weight and any material-handling concerns.

Operator Involvement

Consider tray handling, tamping and ring transfers alongside machine speed. Decide which tasks your team can perform consistently over the planned batch.

Cleaning and Changeover

Plan for how often you clean and change size. Tell us every formulation you will run so changeover can be planned with the machine.

Construction

Automatic LCF machines use SS 316 for contact parts and SS 304 elsewhere. The manual filler uses SS 304 contact parts.

Documentation

IQ, OQ and DQ documents and test certificates are available on request for the LI-LCF LAB. List the documents your auditors need.

Capsule Filling Machine FAQs

A capsule filling machine separates empty capsule caps and bodies, fills the bodies with a formulation, rejoins the shells and releases the filled capsules. Manual, semi automatic and automatic machines differ in how much work the operator performs and how the formulation is dosed.

A manual capsule filling machine uses operator-controlled trays, spreading, tamping and closing. The semi automatic LSCF range automates loading and dosing while the operator moves and aligns loading rings. The automatic LCF range carries capsules through rectification, vacuum separation, dosing, joining and ejection stations.

The 100-hole filler gives up to 4,000 capsules per hour, the CFM 300 up to 6,000 and the standard manual filler 7,500 to 8,000. The semi automatic LSCF-35 and LSCF-45 give up to 35,000 and 45,000. The automatic LCF-25, LCF-40, LCF-70 and LCF-90 give 25,000, 40,000, 70,000 and 90,000, and the high speed LCF-150 up to 150,000 capsules per hour. The LI-LCF LAB gives up to 3,000.

The CFM 300, the semi automatic range and the high speed LCF-150 handle sizes 00 to 5. The automatic LCF range and the LI-LCF LAB handle 00 to 4. The 100-hole filler covers 00 to 5 through separate variants. Each size needs its own format parts.

Yes. The semi automatic and automatic ranges fill powders, granules and pellets, and the automatic LCF range can fill them in combination. The CFM 300 works with hard gelatin, HPMC and vegetarian capsules, and the LI-LCF LAB with HPMC and vegetarian capsules.

The high speed LCF-150 fills to plus or minus 2 percent. Accuracy depends on the formulation and capsule size, so our engineers confirm the expected fill-weight variation for your product with the quotation.

Yes. Automatic LCF machines and the LI-LCF LAB use SS 316 for product-contact parts, and the manual filler uses SS 304. IQ, OQ and DQ documents and test certificates are available on request for the LI-LCF LAB.
