Working Principle of Multijet Ampoule and Vial Washing Machine

The machine works on the principle of sequential jet washing — the containers stay stationary in a loading tray while the washing media are indexed through them one stage at a time.

Once the loading tray is placed in the machine and the handle bar is lowered, the washing needles centre themselves automatically into the mouth of every ampoule or vial. The needle is the delivery point for the whole cycle: it carries the media into the container under pressure, and the same pressurised supply washes the outer surface, so internal and external cleaning happen within the same sequence.

The sequence is driven by a mechanical motorized cam operated valve system. The cam opens each valve in turn, giving six washing stations in one complete cycle — DM water, purified air, DM water, purified air, distilled water (WFI), and a closing purified air blow. Where a process calls for a different order or an extra rinse, the cam arrangement can be replaced by a timer operated solenoid valve system or a microprocessor controlled timer sequence.

The pressure behind the jets comes from a dedicated pressure tank, which holds the washing media under pressure so that supply to the needles stays continuous across all six stations instead of falling away between them. Before it reaches the needles the water passes through an on-line polycarbonate housing carrying a replaceable P.P. filter cartridge of 5 or 10 micron, so only filtered media enters the container.

The acrylic top cover keeps the whole cycle visible and doubles as a safety interlock. Lifting it during operation stops the machine, and lowering it again resumes the cycle from the point it stopped at rather than restarting the batch.

Process Operation of Multijet Ampoule and Vial Washing Machine

The dump loading procedure may be used, if ampoules/vials are received in ready to dump boxes, which will have exactly into the same number of ampoule/vial and the pitch, as loading tray. Alternatively, each ampoule/vial has to be arranged into the tray. The loading tray/s is placed directly into the machine & the handle bar is lowered for ampoule/vial for automatic centering of washing needles into the ampoule/vial mouths.
