Types of Tablet Press Machines
Our seven tablet presses fall into four groups, from manual and laboratory presses to high speed production machines.
Production Rotary Tablet Presses
The single sided rotary tablet press is an entry-level option for small batches, while the double sided LI-DT range serves medium batches at up to 225,000 tablets per hour. For large batches, the high speed rotary tablet press makes up to 545,000 tablets per hour, with force feeding and a pre-compression roller.
Compact Rotary and Laboratory Presses
The mini rotary press is a compact table-top machine for formulation development and small production batches. The lab single punch press supports small quantities and formulation trials using a filling, compression and ejection sequence. Both let development teams test formulations before scaling up to production.
Manual Tablet Press
The manual tablet press lets the operator load material into the die and compress it by hand. It suits small runs and training where direct control of each tablet matters. The LI-MT 100 has 10 stations with B tooling, presses tablets up to 20 mm and makes up to 60,000 tablets per hour.
Specialist Salt Tablet Press
The salt press is designed around the challenges of handling abrasive and corrosive salt. It uses stainless steel contact parts, a special reducer motor and automatic feeding and pressing, and makes up to 222,000 tablets per hour.

High Speed Rotary Tablet Press: When Should You Upgrade?
Consider a high speed rotary tablet press when the planned batch size and available production time make your existing press a constraint. The LI-HT range has a bottom-driven rotary force feeder, variable AC drives and front controls for adjusting tablet parameters from outside the tableting area, plus interlocked upper and side guards and quick cleaning.

How a Tablet Compression Machine Works
Every tablet press fills, meters, compresses and ejects. A rotary press repeats this cycle at every station around the turret, while a single punch press runs it at one punch and die.
- FeedingPowder or granules move from the hopper into the feeding system and die cavity. This is where the compression cycle starts.
- MeteringThe lower punch position determines the volume of material held in the die. Excess material is removed as the fill is adjusted for the intended tablet.
- CompressionUpper and lower punches compress the material inside the die. The high speed range also describes a pre-compression roller before the main compression stage.
- EjectionThe upper punch withdraws and the lower punch rises to lift the tablet from the die cavity, ready for removal from the tooling.
- DischargeA take-off blade or surface plate moves the tablet away from the die. The cycle then repeats with a fresh fill.

How to Choose the Right Tablet Press
Required Output
Define the batch size and time available for compression. Pick a model whose output covers your batch with margin.
Tablet Dimensions
State diameter, thickness and shape. Review maximum diameter and fill depth together, then agree tooling that matches the drawing.
Tooling Format
Identify D, B, BB or special tooling as applicable. If you already own tooling, send its details so we can check compatibility.
Formulation
Share whether the material is powder, granules or salt. Tell us about flow or sticking problems so the feeding and compression set-up suits your material.

Tablet Press Machine FAQs
A tablet press machine compresses powder or granules in a die cavity using upper and lower punches. The tooling determines tablet shape and size. Lodha offers single sided, double sided, high speed, mini rotary, salt, lab single punch and manual presses for different production needs.
The LI-ST single sided series is intended for small batches, with 12, 16 or 20 stations. The LI-DT double sided series serves medium batches, with 27, 35 or 45 stations. Output ranges from 65,000 to 225,000 tablets per hour, depending on the model.
The mini rotary press is designed for formulation development and small batches. The LI-MT 8D and LI-MT 10B make up to 14,000 tablets per hour, and the LI-MT 10D up to 18,000. The lab single punch press is another option for testing formulations and making small quantities.
It depends on the model. The LI-ST12 presses tablets up to 40 mm with special tooling. Double sided models take tablets up to 25, 16 or 11 mm with D, B or BB tooling. We match the tooling to your tablet drawing.
The LI-HT series is intended for large batches and offers 45, 61, 69 or 75 stations. It has a force feeder, pre-compression roller, variable AC drives, interlocked guards and external adjustment of tablet parameters. The four models make 325,000 to 545,000 tablets per hour, depending on tooling and station count.

Yes. Single sided, high speed and mini rotary presses follow cGMP design. The lab single punch press has GMP construction with AISI 304 stainless steel for the exterior and non-contact parts, and the salt and manual presses are built in stainless steel.
